Role:
 A talented, highly motivated, versatile, hands-on Technical Architect, to lead a team of around 10 engineers. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with strong awareness of the industry trends, possesses an ideal sense of business acumen, hands-on technology skills, positive work ethic and a "can do" attitude. The prospective candidate will be working with various cross functional groups (business and technology) devising and delivering cutting edge innovative solutions and will require great articulation, negotiation and influencing skills given the level of visibility. The person is also expected to be an able leader, a mentor and a peer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead architecture and design of high impact projects that meet could result in a minimum viable product or prototype.


• Act as a bridge between business, product and technology.


• Be a technology evangelist who can marry business needs with technology solves, can question existing architecture and provide efficient alternate solutions


• Understand the payments business and how technology decisions impact the business. Sense evolving business trends and translate them into needs into technology solves.


• Drive technical designs to consensus and approval as a leader within PayPal’s cross-functional technology team.


• Demonstrate ability to identify, define, create, and apply new architectural design patterns and standards to extremely complex problems.


• Research, assess, and recommend external technologies and products for their applicability to complex project requirements and contribute to the development of new company concepts.


• Represent the team in external review boards.


• Represent the company in external industry and academic forums


• Identify and mentor critical engineering talent, identify and recruit technical leaders into the organization.

Architectural skills

• Demonstrated experience with large-scale software architecture and development, OLTP systems, and/or high-volume websites and web services.


• Solid understanding of web-scale architectural considerations such as security, performance, scalability, reliability etc.


• Be able to define, adhere to and influence upon others, proven engineering standards adopted in the software industry.


• Experience in architecting large scale solutions for payments or ecommerce industry will be a big plus.

Technical Hands-on Skills

• Strong Object oriented programming skills and expertise in one of C++, Java/J2EE


• Strong understanding of web-based programming languages and scripting


• Decent experience working with databases such as MSSQL/ Oracle etc.


• Exposure to one or more server side scripting technologies


• Knowledge of mobile programming in Android/iOS is a plus.

BSCS or BSEE or Other Related 4yr Technical Degree
